Mentorship Experience
Mentorship is a process in which an experienced individual helps another person develop their goals and skills through on-going, supportive one-on-one conversations and learning exercises. Being a mentor allows faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University to give back in a very meaningful way. Our mission is to connect students with a mentor who will support them in their post-secondary journey by helping them navigate the college environment and preparing them for their transition from college to a rewarding career. This mentoring program’s purpose is to provide students with support in the form of one-on-one guidance, advice and insight from a mentor who may share similar experiences.
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintain transparency, we would like to address some changes that will go into effect in Spring 2025.Â
- We will discontinue our use of the mentor platform starting February 28.
- Mentors and students who remain matched will receive an email with further details on how to meet and fulfill the mentorship requirement this semester.
- All UT Promise students–whether assigned a mentor or not–will be required to complete a reflection survey to fulfill their mentorship requirement this semester. Information about the survey will be sent directly to students via email and posted to the UT Promise website.
- Students are still required to complete 8 hours of community service to remain eligible.
- The deadline to submit community service hours and complete the reflection survey is June 1, 2025.
